Mac’s Team was created to give us an excuse to live life like Mac did and in essence spread his big sweaty hugs and belly laugh around.  He had many interests – politics, fishing, traveling, cooking and helping others – so each year we plan to come up with something that we feel embodies Mac’s spirt and invite others to join us.  One year it might be a beach clean-up in Gearhart, one of Mac’s favorite spots, another year it might be helping a law student  struggling to make ends meet at Mac’s alma mater with their tuition.

Year Two - 2022

“The Ehlen family is overwhelmed by the love and support that we continue to receive from so many friends.

Love to all of you.”

— Scott Ehlen

“We could all use more people like Mac in our lives. Mac was a great friend and a masterful host, who had the special ability to make friends feel at ease, and at home, wherever they were. He helped us enjoy life, while filling our days with endless smiles and laughter. Mac was a generous spirit with a hard-driving work ethic – always looking for ways to roll up his sleeves and help get things accomplished, whether through one of the numerous foundations he supported or by volunteering to serve as part of student government. Those of us who were lucky enough to have him as part of our lives, will always be the people we are because of the time we had with Mac.

“Joining Mac’s team is the perfect way to keep his vibrant and altruistic spirit alive – the perfect way to keep sharing his smiles and his joy and love of life.”

— Chris Haines

“I’ve been a friend of the Ehlen family for more than 10 years having met in Hawaii. They are such a fun and close family. My heart broke and I cried openly when I heard of their loss. I will be proud to be part of the team and support the causes close to Mac’s heart.”

— Ron Chutz

“Mac, I feel so fortunate I got to talk to you on the fourth of July party at the Goodman's a year and half ago. We had a great conversation and laughed at the crazy stuff we enjoyed at Shasta over the years. You were a fun guy and your smile and wit kept me on my toes. You are missed more than you could every imagine.”

— Jim Mark

“From the time I met Mac and his family (so many years ago) he always stopped and made a point of saying hello and engage in conversation. Mac was funny and sincere, spirited and special on every level. He always made me smile. Mac’s spirit lives on”

— Julie Stott
